Island Services
Sanibel was incorporated as a City in 1972. The City Government Complex houses the Police Department, the Finance Dept., Building and Planning Department and City Council Chambers. Public works and the Sanibel library are located adjacent to the City Hall complex. The island has several fire stations with emergency services, an urgent care center and a number of healthcare facilities equipped to handle minor emergencies. The island is also home to a number of service organizations. FISH, Friends Who Care, International Rotary Club, Kiwanis, Lion Club, NBWA and Zonta all provide valuable community services to Island Residents.
