Bailey Mathews Shell Museum
Since its opening to the public in 1995, the Museum has operated as an information and reference center for national and international scientists, students, and shell enthusiasts who are interested in the marine, terrestrial, and land mollusks of the Gulf of Mexico and Florida.

BIG Arts
Known as Sanibel and Captiva’s home for all the arts, BIG ARTS has been providing cultural enrichment and fulfillment to island residents since 1979. BIG ARTS began when a group of artists dreamed of a cultural center on the island. Today, BIG ARTS members and participants
enjoy a wide spectrum of performing and visual arts events and the community participates in more than 170 educational classes and workshops each year.

Location: Cross the causeway and you will come to Periwinkle Way. Turn right onto Periwinkle Way and go about two miles, past several shopping areas, until you see a large sign on the left for the Island Cow Restaurant. The street on the right just opposite the restaurant is Dunlop Rd. There is a sign listing the Library, BIG ARTS, City Hall, and Historical Village. Turn right onto Dunlop Rd. and follow around to the left. BIG ARTS will be on your right.

Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge
The J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge was created to safeguard and enhance the pristine wildlife habitat of Sanibel Island, to protect endangered and threatened species, and to provide feeding, nesting, and roosting areas for migratory birds. Today, the refuge provides important habitat to over 220 species of birds.

Sanibel Sea School
Sanibel Sea School is dedicated to vibrantly teach children and adults about marine ecosystem, using the setting of the barrier island habitats of Sanibel and Captiva as an opportunity to touch, feel and understand. Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of natural resources and wildlife habitat on and around these barrier Islands. The Foundation has established six priority program areas to forward this mission:

3. Wildlife Protection
4. Marine Research
4. Environmental Education
5. Landscaping for Wildlife
The facilities include a Nature Center and Museum with exhibits, lecture room, offices and gift shop, 4 miles of walking trails with a retail native plant sales area and butterfly house, a Marine Laboratory.
